São Paulo is like an open-air museum. This gigantic, crowded, commercially minded city is not on most tourists' itineraries. But, to me, this city is fascinating. São Paulo has the best graffiti I have seen anywhere in the world. It is creative, colorful, ubiquitous, and expertly executed; some is classically beautiful, and some is thought-provoking.

Graffiti and rubbish. Villa Magdalenda neighborhood. Alley between Rua Padre Jo?Gon?ves and Rua Belmiro Braga. If you're thinking about visiting this alley, be aware that it contains a fair amount of rubbish and some unpleasant odors. In my opinion, the excellent artwork more than compensated for the smell, but I visited in the winter. Your experience may differ.
